Disturbia

Dave and I just finished watching the nail-biting Disturbia (shockingly recommended by Maurice Matsumori, whose last recommendation "White Chicks" had me scratching my head after five minutes and walking back to the video store after ten minutes for a full refund), and rather than talk about the likelihood of our neighbor Eddie being a serial killer or how strange it is that Dave's brother's house has been broken into two times in one year, I decided to blog. Disturbia, a take off on Hitchcock's Rear Window, is the tale of a teen (Shia LaBeouf) on house arrest. His P.O., while placing the ankle bracelet on (a la Martha Stewart), sagely tells him that sometimes people can get a little cagey being on lock-down and advises he get a hobby. He finds one in no short time, voyeurism—high tech peeping Tomish voyeurism. The rest of the film leaves you wondering if Shia's next door neighbor is a serial killer and left me balled up on our bed too scared to put my feet on the floor for a very necessary trip to the bathroom. Dave jumped two times and paused the film once, which he attributed to my pounding pulse. The flick was equal parts suspense, pretty witty dialogue (for a teen flick) and laugh out loud lines. The Thatcher's give it two trembling thumbs up.

We liked this movie, too. We saw it in the theater and everyone was screaming at certain parts, which made it slightly less scary as we cracked up about the collective startles. I even had to stop eating my movie popcorn in a few places because I was too scared. You know it's serious when that happens.

I enjoyed the movie as well. I wasn't expecting too much since I hadn't heard anything about it, but I was pleasantly surprised (and scared).
Hey, welcome to the blogger world. I was a reluctant joiner as well, but I love it now!

I totally want to see this. The only problem is I get sooooo scared at home by myself (almost every night). But I'm putting it in my Netflix queue anyway...it's your fault if I call you at 2 in the morning asking you if I can come sleep over!

O.k. so I already commented about this post...BUT, I don't have your email. I wanted to ask you if you guys are interested in borrowing Madelyn's halloween costume from last year. It's a ladybug costume that is seriously adorable. Just shopping around for costumes this year and thought of you and C.
